The secret is there is no secret.

I don’t feel like there is any secret to growing a business the right way. The path to success for companies, groups, and individuals is paved with the same principles of effectiveness that have been around forever. By acknowledging and honoring these principles, you can take the guess work out of the question, “will I (we) be successful?”

Lots of management books and consulting practices promise the secret to success. These “outside in” approaches may lead to short term bumps in performance. But, eventually the ether wears off, and our habits take over. Guess what, the latest management fad doesn’t work. There are no short cuts.

By understanding these principles, and approaching this path as a marathon, not a sprint, I’ve been able to change people and groups from the inside out. And point them towards the path that I know leads to lasting change, lasting effectiveness. Whether it’s a sales organization, or a new executive, understanding these principles to the point where they become your habits is the key.
